It Is What it Is
March 11, 2012 7:10 PM
People have a tendency to evaluate everything that happens, both good and bad. For instance, you wake up in the morning and stub your toe walking to the bathroom. This leads to the analysis, “Ouch! This is going to be one of those days. That is so frustrating! I hate it when I do that.”

Beckons Goes to Kenya
February 03, 2012 8:00 AM
In July, Beckons partnered with Vital Yoga of Denver to bring organic clothing to the Samburu Tribe of Kenya. Micah Springer, co-owner of the flourishing Denver-based Vital Yoga Studio visited this colorful community, bringing along 100 pounds of Beckons clothing to give to the Samburu women. Here are some sweet photos of Penina and friends, wearing her Beckons top.
The Color Gray

The color of affluence and dependability
Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and stability. It is perceived as classic, sleek and refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative, and carries authority. Gray is the color of compromise, occupying all the space between black and white.
It is said that gray is the color around which creative people are most creative. Gray is a neutral color that can enhance and intensify any other color it surrounds. My favorite version of gray is silver. This gorgeous white gold and raw diamond ring is from Todd Reed. I bought it a few years back and can wear it with anything.

The Color Black

The color of power, sophistication, and mystery
Technically, black is the absence of color. In our American culture, black plays a huge role in how things are presented and perceived. It is one of the most powerful colors. It is the color of authority, knowledge, and intelligence (think doctoral robes and black rimmed glasses.) Black has long been associated with death, grieving, fear, hidden forces, shadows, and the unknown. It is the color of night, deep water and the universal void.
Thanks to Coco Chanel, black is the most popular fashion color. Before Chanel, black was strictly worn as the color of mourning. Today it is the most common color in a typical woman's wardrobe. One of the best things about black is that it appears to make a person look thinner. While white reveals, black conceals. “The little black dress” implies sophistication, self-confidence, formality, and the perfect item in one's wardrobe. Here's the lastest in Beckons dresses, the Grace V-neck Tunic Dress. Pair this with a cami and some leggings and head off to the yoga studio or some tights and fabulous boots and you are ready for a comfy, yet stylish night on the town.
The Color White

The uplifting color of faith and truth
My precious yoga teacher, Isha Eve Emley, walked through the Yoga Journal Conference in her all-white flowing outfit, turning heads; people assuming that she must be someone of importance to wear such a bold statement of color. Indeed, she had taken a vow to only wear white during that time in her life. She wore it symbolically every day – a very powerful and respectful practice.

The Color Turquoise
October 10, 2011 5:56 AM
The color of heart and voice
A combination of blue and green with a touch of yellow, turquoise blends the peace and tranquility of blue and the balance and growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow. It is refreshing and healing; a friendly, happy color.
In the chakra tradition, turquoise combines the heart (green) and throat (blue) chakras; encouraging us to speak what is in our heart. This color promotes successful communication, clarity of thought, increased creativity and self-sufficiency. It is the color of personal authenticity.

The Color Pink

The Color of Self-Love
I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles. – Audrey Hepburn
Pink is much more than a variation of red. Pink combines the energies of white and red; white represents the potential for fullness, red helps achieve that potential. While it does not hold its own space on the standard color wheel or in the Prang watercolor set, it is recognized as having great power and influence, in both the Feng Shui and the Chakra traditions.
